Bid on an Ox
Place a bid on your own piece of Hopewell Valley history!
The Stampede auction is live! Thirty-three of the Stampede oxen are now offered for sale in an online auction through the site Bidding For Good. Feel free to peruse the site, read the bidding FAQ, and learn the details of our auction prior to registering or placing your first bid. Before bidding, be sure to read the special instructions posted with each ox.
Proceeds from the sale of the oxen will go to the further development of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council and ongoing programming efforts fostering our mission of celebrating art in the everyday.
Wondering what you can do with you ox? Check out our ‘art in the everyday’ blog post “Top Ten Reasons to Own an Ox”.
How it works
The auction began on Friday, September 19, and will end at 3pm on Sunday, October 19. The opening bid for all oxen is $500.
To bid on an ox you must create an account with Bidding for Good. A credit card is required to create your account and bid on an ox. The auction works very much like eBay or other online auction sites where you can set up proxy bidding up to a maximum bid, and the system will bid incrementally for you automatically, or you can enter a bid for a specific amount. The Bidding for Good FAQ has a lot of information and details.
Please be sure to read the special instructions on each ox bidding page for information about auction fees and delivery charges.
What if I win?
If you win an ox, you will receive an email from Bidding For Good when the auction closes. The Arts Council will follow up with detailed information regarding delivery arrangements for your ox.
