“Van Gox” was awarded Most Whimsical or Amusing entry by our panel of Stampede Judges. Congratulations!
In our design for Van Gox we wanted to inspire life and creativity with vibrant patterns and bold paintings of local Hopewell landmarks. We named our ox after our favorite Master, Van Gogh.
We divided our ox into different segments and treated each differently to symbolize the different aspects of art, keeping the face of the ox more realistic. We picked local landmarks in Hopewell, the Hopewell Train Station and the Van Cleve House, to paint and showcase on both sides. The back and top portion of the ox features the handprints of the various people that have walked through our studio. The legs all have different patterns symbolizing how patterns are used in all types of art. The front of the ox features a butterfly that our various students have painted symbolizing the change that we all go through in our lives. The more we allow ourselves to embrance who we are and not judge the more we can grow. Art is a fantastic way to express our inner selves.
